Clifford E. Haines, Esquire

Clifford E. Haines, Esquire is the founder of Haines & Associates, a law firm he started in early 2004 that engages exclusively in the practice of civil litigation. Prior to starting his own practice, Mr. Haines was, for 23 years, a member of the law firm Litvin, Blumberg, Matusow & Young engaged in representing catastrophically injured people in medical malpractice and products liability litigation. At the outset of his career, Mr. Haines served for 9 years as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia where he was the Chief of the Homicide Division and Chief of Hiring and Training. He holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude from the Ohio State University College of Law.

Mr. Haines served as the Director of the Temple University's Academy of Advocacy. He teaches for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy at both the local and national level. He has lectured and taught trial advocacy to private, governmental and American Bar Association bodies throughout the country.

In 1997, Mr. Haines was Chancellor of the 13,000 member Philadelphia Bar Association, the oldest metropolitan Bar Association in America. He is a former Chair of the Association's Board of Governors and has chaired its Evidence Code Task Force, Lawyer Referral and Information Service Committee, State Civil Judicial Procedures Committee and Professional Responsibility Committee. In 2009-2010 Mr. Haines served as the 115th President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association after several years on its Board of Governors. The Pennsylvania Bar Association has been named by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as the recognized body representing lawyers in Pennsylvania. Mr. Haines has served as a Member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates, and in 2002, Mr. Haines served as Chair to the Host Committee for the Association’s mid-year meeting in Philadelphia. Mr. Haines is Chairman of the Board of Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts, a bipartisan, non-profit corporation seeking the merit selection of Appellate Court Judges in Pennsylvania. He was appointed by Philadelphia's former Mayor, Edward G. Rendell to a Task Force on the use of videotaping confessions made by defendants in criminal cases. Under the gubernatorial tenure of Edward G. Rendell, Mr. Haines served on both the Pennsylvania Council for the Arts and the Philadelphia Port Authority. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocate Forum and is also listed in the Outstanding Lawyers of America. He is the recipient of numerous awards for outstanding teaching and leadership in pro bono efforts in Pennsylvania.

Danielle M. Weiss, Esquire, Partner, has spent over a decade at Haines & Associates, successfully representing both individual and small-business clients in high stakes trial matters. Danielle has been recognized by Philadelphia Magazine’s SuperLawyers as a rising star, an honor conferred on 2% of young lawyers in the greater Philadelphia area, in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Danielle is a life-long resident of the Philadelphia area. She earned a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania (2002), and a J.D. from the James E. Beasley School of Law, Temple University (2005). While in law school, Danielle was a James Beasley Scholar, a member and an editor of the Temple International and Comparative Law Journal, and the recipient of the Harry B. Kozart Memorial Prize in Products Liability. Danielle is also a proud alumna of The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA. Danielle is active in the community, serving, among other positions and organizations, on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and on the National Young Leadership Cabinet of the Jewish Federations of North America.
